Documentary Filmmaker, Conservationist & Educator

Ran Levy-Yamamori is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, writer, and environmental educator whose work bridges science, storytelling, and creative education across cultures. Beyond filmmaking, Ran has played an important role in transformative Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) initiatives in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia, empowering teachers, NGOs, and community leaders to think creatively and integrate environmental awareness into education systems. He has designed and implemented cross-cultural projects uniting Arab and Jewish educators, and trained government and NGO teams in creative approaches to sustainability education.

Ran was involved in initiating Green Walls in Kenya, starting in 2018 with the first Green Wall workshop at a school for thousands of children with special needs. The project grew into a nationwide movement of about 10,000 green walls, revolutionizing food security and livelihoods across Kenya. Ran created Green Walls for Life, which inspired similar initiatives around the world, and more recently Growing Food, Growing Change, a project promoting self-reliance, organic growing, and healthier nutrition across Africa.

Through his films, Ran uses documentary storytelling as a powerful tool to promote and share ideas with wider audiences around the world, inspiring awareness and dialogue on humanity’s relationship with nature. His award-winning feature Bridging Troubled Waters has been honored internationally for its sensitive portrayal of communities seeking understanding across cultural divides. His other acclaimed works include Joan’s Girls, Beyond the Cup of Coffee, The Generous Papaya Tree, When the Ocean Turns Black, Becoming Forest Trees, and Beyond Glass Walls, each reflecting his belief in creativity as a bridge for change.
